As Christians, it’s important that we desire growth in our spiritual life. We cannot remain babies, we need to grow and attain son ship. Remember, as many as are led by the Spirit, they are the sons of God. Growth, as we know, doesn’t happen accidentally, rather it’s intentional. What’s your plan for spiritual growth this year? Or you expect to grow by chance? What’s your plan to know God, Love God and Serve God? It is said that ” If you leave your life to chance, you don’t have a chance”. Not even in your spiritual life. Let’s us learn our basics responsibilities for spiritual growth.
Service
In what way do you intend to serve God this year? In what capacity in your church do you plan to serve God this year? It is so important to put our talents to the service our community. It’s by doing so that we show the love, grace, power of the Lord to the world. We are the extension of the Lord’s hands. Plus, every perfect gift comes from him (James 1:17). Therefore, do not be afraid to develop your gifts and talents. In the opposite, be bold and serve God with your time, resources, money and skills.
Word Study
I’m in the process of reading a book titled ‘Life Management for Busy Women’ by Elizabeth George and one thing I’ve learnt about Bible Study is ‘Time’. When it comes to Word Study, the Key is: Time, First Time, Early Time.
Time: Give God your time, refuse to miss a day. Don’t go without studying the Word a day.
First time: Give the Lord your first time. He deserves your first. So before you do anything in the day, seek the Lord first.
Early Time: Before the noise and the pressure of the day arises, seek the Lord. In the peace and tranquility of the morning, lift your eyes to the heels
and hear what your heavenly father is saying to you. It gives you the strength to face your day.
In what way do you want to consume the Word? I use a Bible Reading Plan that helps me read through the Bible in one year. Other ways to consume the Word is by listening to audio or video teachings, memorize one verse per day or per week, by the end of the year, you’d be able to recite at least 52 verses offhand. You can also, humming the lyrics of praise & worship songs, meditate on scriptures, read Christian Literature, attend Church Services (both Sunday and Midweek – make it a commitment not to miss any church service) ( END)
