There is a confusion on this matter of leadership especially when women are involved. Some people think that women are not supposed to lead or take a position of responsibility within the church. While others think they ought to. Well, this post is not to open a debate. It is simply to highlight what you must base yourself on to lead well irrespective of your gender, age, and personality. There are several bible verses on leadership, but I decided to highlight twelve of my favorite bible verses to help you navigate through this season of your life.
- 1 Peter 5:2-4 –Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
- 1 Timothy 4:12 –Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
- Matthew 24:45-47 –A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them. If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns.
- Matthew 20:26 –……..whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant….
- Luke 12:48 –…..From everyone who has been given much shall much be required……
- John 13:12-15 –When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.
- Acts 20:28 –Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:14 –And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.
- Judges 6: 14 –The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
- John 12:26 – Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.
- 1 Timothy 3:13 –Those who do well as deacons will be rewarded with respect from others and will have increased confidence in their faith in Christ Jesus.
- Titus 1:7-9 – A church leader is a manager of God’s household, so he must live a blameless life. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered; he must not be a heavy. Rather, he must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must love what is good. He must live wisely and be just. He must live a devout and. He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show.
